Where these prices come from

We analysed BusinessFinder.me’s own history of car rental, limousine, delivery, courier, freight and transport company ads that have since expired or been removed. Before calculating anything, we took out ads that had been put in the wrong section. Examples include drinking-water suppliers, a truck wash and a teeth-whitening business. We also removed likely reposts, the placeholder price that appears on dozens of unrelated ads, and one limousine ad asking over AED 70 million that we could not check.

That leaves 48 priced listings, 45 of them in Dubai. 25 are from 2019–2021, 12 from 2022–2023 and 11 from 2024–2026. Each type of business has only 9 to 16 listings, so treat the figures as a guide rather than a price list. All numbers describe groups of listings, never a single seller.

The type of business matters more than anything else. A delivery company is often little more than a licence, a few bikes and contracts with delivery apps, so most asked AED 250,000 or less. A limousine company needs its own fleet and permits from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and is usually sold with its drivers, so eight of the nine asked AED 2.5 million or more.

How much does a car rental business cost?

The 16 car rental listings (15 in Dubai, one in Abu Dhabi) ranged from AED 250,000 to AED 15 million. Thirteen of them asked between AED 400,000 and AED 1.5 million. These were usually small and mid-sized companies with an RTA-approved licence, an office and a modest fleet. The two highest asking prices, AED 4.9 million and AED 15 million in 2021, were outliers. The four car rental companies listed from 2024 onwards asked AED 425,000, AED 500,000, AED 620,000 and AED 700,000.

With a car rental company, the price depends largely on whether the cars are included and whether they are paid for. A low price may mean that the cars are still on finance, or that you are mainly buying the licence and the office.

There is no clear trend, because the mix of businesses changes from year to year. For example, three of the eleven recent listings were limousine companies asking AED 5 million or more. Compare prices within each type instead.

Prices by emirate

45 of the 48 listings were in Dubai, with a median asking price of about AED 750,000. The most common locations were Business Bay, Deira and Abu Hail, and two car rental companies were on Sheikh Zayed Road. Abu Dhabi (2 listings) and Ajman (1) had too few to compare.

Only six listings stated a yearly rent and few stated sales or profit, so we do not quote averages for those. About 15% of listings mentioned an online presence or said the business was profitable, 10% mentioned delivery-app contracts and 8% said the licence was included.

How to judge whether a transport business is fairly priced

  • List every vehicle. Ask for each car, van, truck or bike with its year, mileage, registration and insurance, and whether it is owned outright or still on finance. Vehicles on finance belong to the bank until the loan is paid.
  • Check the RTA approvals. Car rental, limousine and many delivery activities in Dubai need RTA approval as well as a trade licence. Confirm which permits the company holds, how many vehicles they cover and that they can be kept after the change of owner.
  • Check fines and outstanding charges. Traffic fines, Salik tolls and unpaid insurance claims can follow the vehicles or the company. Ask for statements and agree in writing who pays anything from before the sale.
  • Check the contracts. For delivery, logistics and limousine firms, much of the value lies in contracts with apps, hotels or corporate clients. Ask how much revenue each one brings and whether it will continue under a new owner.
  • Check the drivers. Driver visas, licences and end-of-service benefits move with the company. Confirm how many drivers will stay.
  • Remember these are asking prices. Deals often close below the first figure.
