How to Buy an Online Business in the UAE: Prices & Checks (2026)

How to Buy an Online Business in the UAE: Prices & Checks (2026)

Short answer: To buy an online business in the UAE, check three things before the price: that the sales are real (seen in the store’s own dashboards and bank statements), that every account, domain and supplier can actually be transferred to you, and that the licence fits how you will run it. On price, 38 online stores and e-commerce brands listed on BusinessFinder.me between 2019 and 2026 had a median asking price of about AED 200,000, and half asked between roughly AED 42,500 and AED 344,000. The six listed since 2024 asked AED 216,000 to AED 1.3 million (median about AED 308,000). These are asking prices, not final sale prices. What is an online business, and what are you actually buying?

In UAE listings, “online business” usually means an e-commerce store or brand: a website or marketplace shop selling products such as fashion, jewellery, home décor, toys or fitness gear, often with stock in a small warehouse or a fulfilment company. Less often it is a software or IT company, or just a licence with e-commerce activity.

When you buy one, you are usually buying some mix of: the company and its licence (if you buy the shares), the website and domain, marketplace seller accounts, social media accounts and email lists, stock, supplier and fulfilment contracts, and the know-how of the person running it. Agree in writing which of these are included, because unlike a shop, most of the value is in things you cannot walk into and inspect.

How much does an online business cost in the UAE?

We analysed BusinessFinder.me’s own archive of online business ads that have since expired or been removed. We kept 38 online stores and e-commerce brands (35 in Dubai, 2 in Abu Dhabi, 1 that did not say), after removing likely reposts, the placeholder price that appears on dozens of unrelated ads, an e-commerce licence advertised at AED 7 million, and ads where the online side was a small add-on to a physical business (for example a laundry with an app).

The market splits into two groups. About a quarter of the listings (10 of 38) asked under AED 50,000: these were usually young stores selling a website, social accounts and some stock, with little or no proven profit. At the other end, nine asked AED 500,000 or more, mostly established brands selling fashion, beauty, home décor, art or bed linen, plus one B2B e-commerce business. Four asked over AED 1 million, the highest about AED 7.5 million.

2022–202312AED 57,000
2024–20266AED 308,000
All years38AED 200,500

Medians jump around because the samples are small and the mix changes: 2022–2023 had many small starter stores, while all six listings from 2024 onwards were established brands asking AED 216,000 or more. The largest single year in the data is 2021, with 15 listings.

Software companies and e-commerce licences

Only three IT or software companies had a price: two small ones asked AED 85,000 and AED 90,000, and a larger one AED 1.8 million, too few for an average. Five ads offered just a licence with e-commerce activity, for AED 3,500 to AED 25,000. A licence on its own has no customers, website or sales, so compare it with the cost of a new licence rather than with a running store; see buying an existing trade licence.

What drives the price of an online store

Online businesses are usually priced on profit, not on fit-out or location. Only a few ads in our data gave a monthly profit, so treat these as sellers’ own claims, not a benchmark:

  • two online stores listed in 2024 asked about one to two years of their stated profit (AED 290,000 with about AED 25,000 a month; AED 510,000 with about AED 27,000 a month);
  • two established fashion e-commerce stores in 2021 asked about three to five years of stated profit (about AED 2.9 million with AED 50,000 a month, and about AED 3.7 million with about AED 100,000 a month).

What moves a price up or down: how long the store has traded, how much of its sales come from paid ads, whether it owns its brand and supplier terms or just resells, how much stock is included, and how dependent it is on the owner. For the maths, read how to value a business in Dubai.

Examples from listings since 2023

  • a small eco-products online store in Abu Dhabi asked AED 40,000 in July 2023;
  • a small online business asked AED 74,000 in May 2023;
  • an online jewellery brand asked AED 216,000 in September 2024;
  • an online fitness-products store asked AED 253,000 in May 2024;
  • a lifestyle-essentials online store asked AED 290,000 in November 2024, stating monthly profit of about AED 25,000;
  • an online furniture and home-décor brand asked AED 326,000 in October 2024;
  • an online bed-linen brand of about three years asked AED 510,000 in May 2024, stating monthly profit of about AED 27,000;
  • a B2B e-commerce business in Business Bay asked AED 1.3 million in January 2025.

How to check an online business before you buy

  • Verify sales at the source. Ask for read-only access to the store platform, the payment gateway and the marketplace seller dashboards, and match them to bank statements for at least 12 months. Screenshots are easy to edit.
  • Check where the traffic comes from. Ask for analytics and ad-account reports. If most sales depend on paid ads, work out the profit after ad spend, and check that sales did not rely on one social account or one marketplace listing.
  • Confirm what can be transferred. List the domain, hosting, website, social accounts, email list, marketplace seller accounts and supplier and fulfilment contracts. Some marketplaces do not let a seller account change hands, so check each platform’s rules before you agree a price.
  • Check the licence and structure. The company’s licence (mainland or free zone) must cover e-commerce activity. Buying the shares keeps the licence and accounts in the company; buying only the assets means you need your own licence and must move everything across.
  • Check customer data, VAT and stock. Customer data must be handled under the UAE’s data protection rules, so ask how it was collected. Ask for VAT registration and returns if the store is registered, and count and value the stock on the day of handover.
  • Plan the handover. Agree a training period with the seller, a non-compete, and a part of the price paid after handover once sales hold up.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an online business cost in the UAE?

Across 38 online stores and e-commerce brands listed on BusinessFinder.me in 2019–2026, the median asking price was about AED 200,000, and half asked between roughly AED 42,500 and AED 344,000. The six listed since 2024 asked AED 216,000 to AED 1.3 million. These are asking prices, not final sale prices.

Is it a good idea to buy an online business in Dubai?

It can be, if the sales are proven and the accounts, domain and suppliers can be transferred to you. The main risks are inflated sales figures, dependence on paid ads or a single marketplace, and accounts that cannot change owner.

How are online businesses valued?

Usually on profit. In the few ads in our data that stated a monthly profit, smaller stores asked about one to two years of profit and established brands about three to five years. Always check the profit after ad spend and stock.

Do I need a licence to buy an online business in the UAE?

Yes. If you buy the company’s shares, its existing licence must cover e-commerce activity. If you buy only the website, stock and accounts, you need your own mainland or free zone licence with e-commerce activity.

Can I buy just an e-commerce licence?

Yes. In our data, licences with e-commerce activity were offered for AED 3,500 to AED 25,000, but a licence alone has no customers, website or sales, so compare it with the cost of a new licence.
